KD prepared some fat, juicy lamb chops that we pair with our wine at night. She cooked them clean with rosemary, Ono Hawaiian seasoning, garlic, pepper and a little olive oil. Wow, did these big, fat juicy lamb chops delicious. OK, so you get that, they were awesome chops. They also know that lamb can be very rich, perfectly well in the taste while cooking. We paired it with our wine of the night, Santa Rita Reserva '06.
I was late, andjust walked in the door, as KD ", said to pack a bottle of wine and open it, how we eat in two minutes, and I want it not too cold." I ran to the wine rack and started looking for something else to the Food ...... Lets you have a couple of Zin, not tonight, a Chianti, not to save that for a little more Italian, a blend of Portugal, no, we only drank a wine from Portugal last night. I took off a few bottles and then came with the "Wine of theNight.
Santa Rita Carmenere Reseva '06. I pulled the cork and smelled like I always do, to bad wine corks or check. The first thing that went through my head was .... earthy, but that did not last long. I tried to pour only a sample taste before filling the jars, so I saw this dark, dark red, almost like dark ink drips from the bottle spilled. I then swirled and looked at the beautiful cascading thick legs on the inside of the glass. When Ito whirl, "the wine, the aroma of ripe berry fruit rose from the glass before I even had the chance to raise the glass to my nose. I thought, "that smells really good, in fact, very good." I took a sip ..... If the SIP as well as the scent, I would had been a happy man. I thought, "what do you want from a 2006 Carmenere was that out of the bottle is less than 5 minutes from the barrel, and less than one years.
The taste was very front with fruit and berriesSpices, pepper, a light layer and still young, but defiantly not have too many tannins. I do not think it was jammy though. It was a little more than the refinement. This is another round of good wine, you should keep on hand for any occasion. This wine comes with just about everything, our lamb and do not go over the power grid, and that of Chili. That was a great pairing. After the wine opened, it was even better than all the wines. KD really liked thisWine also thought another year or so in the bottle which could be a great wine. You can drink it now or hold it for a few years and still have a good to great bottle of wine ......... . Twelve dollars.
